November: I cut up one of my leaves by wetting it, let it get moist throughout, then putting it in a blender. The result is pieces of a good size, but square, not long and thin.
December: I got a few people to try cigarettes made from the pieces. They said they were ok but different from regular cigarettes, but no one wanted more.

1999
May 17: I got about 4 small seedlings from Chuck on Parkview Street.
29: I set out the plants. They are still quite small, having about 3 leaves each.
June 5: 3 still going, growing but not a good colour.
June 30: Growing well.
August 3: Flourishing nicely. Flower stalks are forming.
12: There are attractive pink flowers.
31: The same.
September 11: I cut the plants down, and left them on the deck to wilt.
12: I began curing them in my home made flue.
20: Some of them have changed colour as desired, but some have not. Some had dried out, so I soaked them all in warm water for 2 hours. This may have been a mistake, as it left orange water. I hope I have not removed the desired chemicals from the leaves!
24: I turned off the heater. The leaves are drying out again, and I think I may as well take them as they are.
