Other Years

2004
May 6:  I planted 2 small rows using both seed from the package and seed I collected in 1999.
July 31:  No sprouts, perhaps because they got temporarily covered with mulch at the critical time.

2003
May 3:  I planted 2 rows, one with seed from the package and one with the seed I collected in 1999.
May 21:  Sprouts today, following the recent rain.
July 4:  They are starting to flower without ever having developed large roots.

2002
May 12:  Planted some seeds.
28:  Sprouts.
July 24:  In flower.   I guess they were missed when they were ready to eat.
August 1:  I cleared them away.

2001
May 3: I planted a few seeds near the tarragon, some from a package and some from last year's crop.
May 18: They are up, both kinds.
June 6: I ate a small one.
June 30: I harvested the last small ones.
July 1: I cleared out the bed. They were starting to flower..

2000
May 21: I sowed 2 small rows beside the matthiola.
27: Sprouts.
July 1: Ready for eating.
August 8: I cleared them out a while ago. Those not eaten early had turned woody.

1999
June 12: I bought a package of Cherry Belle radish seeds at Wal-Mart for $0.77 yesterday, and planted a few of them today.
17: Sprouts!
29: A few more planted.
July 12: I harvested 4.
August 3: I have harvested half of the second batch.   The first batch is going into blossom.   I want the seeds.
14: There are large stalks of flowers, which attract cabbage white butterflies and bees.
~September 21: I pulled them up, and saved a few seed pods.  They are quite rank looking as they go to seed, and seemed to be growing without limit.
