April 16: The plant on the west side is up.

April 10: The plant on the west side of the house is up and showing its flower bud.

April 16: I cleared away the old ribbon grass and found a plant about to flower, but its 2 buds are very small.
May 24: One is flowering in the front bed.

April 1: Two plants have been revealed on the west side of the house.
May 1: The blossom is beginning to fade on the one plant on the east side.
May 27: There are some nice flowers in the front bed. I planted 6 bulbs that I forced indoors this winter in the bed on the east side of the house.
 
2006
February 23: I started the bulbs a few weeks ago in soil and have kept them in the basement closet. Today I brought the largest one up. The flower bud is not yet visible but I think it is up and hidden behind the leaves.
March 27: The last potted bulb is in full flower. Outside one plant is visible, well out of the soil on the east side of the house.
April 12: One plant of the west side is in blossom.
26: 3 plants are flowering on the east side.
 
2005
March 29:  The melting snow has revealed one well up, on the east side of the house.
April 19:  One is beginning to flower on the east side.
May 28:  There were a few nice flowers. Now there are leaves of a good size in their spots.
September 19:  I bought 13 bulbs from Walmart for $8.94. Some are for the new front bed and some are for forcing indoors.
 
2004
March 24:  Leaves from 1 plant on the west side of the house are now visible.
28:  4 plants on the east side broke through today.
April 20:  One plant on the west side is flowering.
May 16:  Several plants on the east side are still perfuming the air, although a recent heavy snowfall has laid the blossoms prostrate.

April 9:  Coming up on the west side of the house.
11:  And one plant on the east side.
19:  1 flower.
September 1:  There was a nice display of blossoms in the spring, in several colours.
 
2002
February 23: In one pot I have one pink flower and a very short other plant.  In another pot I have one very tall plant and one short plant, brought today out of the dark.   Still in the closet is a plant with 1 or 2 sprouts, and 2 pots with no sign of growth.  I also bought one pot of 3 bulbs from the R. B. Russell School plant sale Wednesday.
April 30: Some plants are coming up in the east bed.
May 28: Two pink flowers are done, and one blue one remains.
September 5:  I planted all the bulbs left over from forcing, 3 among the mint and about 5 on the west side of the house.
 
2001
September: I bought 8 bulbs of Jan Bos (red) and 8 bulbs of Blue Jacket from Home Depot, and 6 in mixed colours from Canadian Tire, 75 cents each.
October 1: I potted 16 bulbs in assorted media, for forcing. I watered them lightly.
October 3: I put the pots in the garden shed, and planted the remaining 6 bulbs on the east side of the house, in the south end of the mint bed.
November 22: I brought one pot inside, and put it in the basement closet.
December 1: I brought another pot inside, and put it in the basement closet. No sign of growth on the first pot.
December 20: I brought the 5th pot inside, and put it in the basement closet. There are sprouts showing in 2 other pots.
