Other Years
2011
March 20: I gave the bulbs a little water.
28: Some sprouts already!
I moved the boxes to north windows.
June 5: I planted 3 plants near the pond.
Two look good; the third lost its stem in the wind a few days ago
but new buds are developing.
13: I set out the final plant.
September 27:They did not do well. They did not grow much,
or if they did the wind broke them.
There were only a couple of good blooms, and they were mostly hidden by the leaves.
2010
March 14: Two plants survived the winter then began growing in their pot as daylight returned.
There is also one dormant bulb.
I planted them in 3 separate pots.
I bought 10 more bulbs, a very good size, from St. Mary’s Nursery.
15I planted those 10 bulbs in 4 inch square pots.
29: One bulb sprout visible in the morning.
April 3: Sprouts from only 2 bulbs now, and only one overwintered survivor.
April 18: Sprouts from 9 of the new bulbs now.
One still shows no growth.
May 16: Plants are big and tall. One still has not sprouted.
20: I put half out in the boxes.
June 17: I set them out a few weeks ago,
but half of them lost all their stems and leaves in a windstorm.
December 31: There were some marvellous blossoms at times.
They are stored in the basement in their growing boxes.

Begonia, 2009 |
2009
September 20: I bought 4 tuberous non-stop variety plants at a bargain price at Rona, and set them out along the fence.
December 31: I brought them in and potted them together.
2000
July 16: I bought 3 plants from Wal-Mart for 25 cents each, and set them out. One is yellow, one red, and one pink. They are in poor condition.
August 8: The pink plant has disappeared. One of the others seems to starting over with some small leaves, and the other is struggling to continue.
October 4: Careless digging around them from time to time has eliminated any sign of them.
