June 2: I bought 9 Chabaud doubles from Ron Paul nurseries.
3: I set them out.
August 13: They have just started to flower nicely.
October 8: Still flowering nicely.
 
2001
July 10: I bought 7 plants for 99 cents at Revy, of Dwarf Fragrance mixed, and set them out.
July 31: The first flower is opening.
December 2: There was a modest display.

March 5: I put 27 seeds of Chabaud's Giant Double Improved Mixed seeds, newly obtained from Stokes, in the freezer.
12: I planted 9 cells, 3 seeds per cell, and put them into the warming box for warm days and cool nights.
16: One sprout.
18: 13 sprouts, so I took them out of the box.
May 1: They are coming along, although they are rather small and do not look very healthy.
May 21: I set out my plants.
29: I bought 4 plants at a stand. My own are doing very poorly.
June 1: I set the 4 out. I think my own have died.
August 1: The first flower is opening.
September 17: Flowering nicely.
October 4: Fairly heavy frost last night. Still flowering nicely.

June 9: I bought 8 Chabaud Double carnations, and set them out.
June 30: Coming along.
July 15: First flower.
August 3: 3 flowers.
31: About 11 flowers.
October 3: Although they are alive, they have not done much for a while. They put on a modest show this summer. They don't make much of an impression in the garden, but it is nice to have the flowers to cut.
November 21: The plants are still alive, but there are no flowers. I mowed them down today.
 
1997
May 5: I moved the 5 surviving Grenadine carnations.
June 11: 4 ok, 1 just alive.
30: Magnificent display, here and at Parkview.
 
1996
May 13: I bought 14 plugs at the park conservatory sale, Grenadin variety. They gave me 18 plants in 6-paks.
~June 1: Set out.
15: Little or no progress.
September 4: Healthy plants, but no flowers. They are a perennial variety.

August 18: Begun to flower.
September 4: Still going strong. They have a few flowers and many buds.
