May:  I bought some bedding plants and put them in the planters at Gio's, downtown.
September:  They did not do well. I believe it was too shady. They were leggy with few flowers later on.

April 7: I opened an old seed packet of Swiss Giants from McKenzie seeds, and opened the foil pouch, and put 44 of the seeds on a soil-vermiculite mix, and covered them with a sand-peat-vermiculite mix.
21: No sprouts, so I discarded them.
May 28:  There is no sign of the plant from the garden.

2001
May 3: I found 3 survivors in the garden!
May 12: I dug and replanted them, to accommodate the rototiller.
June 18: One plant remains and is growing well.
August 6: It is still alive, but shaded by the shasta daisies, and not looking too well.
 
2000
May 24: I bought 9 plants and set them out.
July 8: Flowering nicely.
August 8: They put on a nice but small show, but now there are no flowers.
September 17: Back in flower.
October 4: Frost last night, but they are still blooming.
