1998 May 2: In leaf.
June 2: Doing well enough.
~September 15: Dug out and discarded.
(I wanted the skyrocket type of ligularia, not the elephant ear type.)
1997 May 27: Doing well.
August 7: A good size, but the leaves are quite browned off.
1996 April 29: The Skyrocket variety is available
at the St. Mary's Road nurseries.
It's also called ragwort.
September 3: Still alive, a little bigger than last year.
1995 ~May 4: Started some seeds.
May 14: None of the Ligularia dentata seeds has sprouted
so I bought a small plant at the Conservatory plant sale.
I believe it's the elephant ears variety,
not the skyrocket variety.
23: Planted it.
June 17: Still alive.
July 7: Just alive.
It probably suffered a lot during the June heat wave.
1994 July 24: I visited the International Peace Garden. Very nice.
I admired Ligularia dentata (bigleaf goldenray, AAS winner).
This is also found, and better, in Assiniboine Park's English garden.
September 13: Collected some seeds from the English Garden.
Their variety is golden skyrockets, or something like that.
The seeds may not have been cross-pollinated or fully developed.
