May 9:  None in sight.

March 30:  I found the new green leaves of one plant in its spot!
June 6:  First flower.
July 30:  Still alive, although there are no flowers at present and it looks tired.
August 24:  It died away weeks ago.

April 2:  I sprinkled some seeds into a 9-pak.
11:  There was no sight of sprouting so I bought new seeds and started 18 cells.
16:  The new seeds are sprouting.

May 14:  The sprouts have not done well.   A few are left and doing fine, but many have died.
June 13:   I set out my 5 seedlings.
July 27:  First flower, a white one.
October 19:  I lost track of it soon after that flower.

April 6: I sprinkled many seeds from the McKenzie package on top of mud in a 9-pak, pressed them gently in, and put the pak on a basement window ledge.
26: 1 sprout.
May 28: I believe I put the small plant into the garden.   I've lost track of it.
 
2001
May 1: No sign of them.
May 4: I found one, of a fair size.
May 21: I started 9 cells today, with many seeds per cell. I put them in a plastic bag in a basement window.
June 6: There are 3 tiny seedlings in 2 cells.
July 1: The first flower is open.
July 20: I set out about 5 seedlings. the previous plant is gone, perhaps touched by glyophosate.
December 2: There were no plants at the end of the summer.
 
2000
April 2: I started 9 cells today, with many seeds per cell.
6: One large plant in the garden has many new leaves.
9: 6 sprouts are visible today.
May 10: First flower, from the survivor plant.
21: I set out 7 plants. The soil in their area is very dry, and seems sandy.
22: I found 5 volunteers, and moved 1. (Then it started to rain.)
23: I moved the other volunteers.
July 6: First flower from one of this year's plants.
August 7: No flowers now, they seem essentially to have finished, although I was deadheading them. I hope they produce some seeds to reseed their area.
~September 28: William put edging on the east end of their bed, and disturbed the soil there quite a bit.
October 4: There is no sign of growth now, but perhaps there will be next year.
 
1999
April 10: I started 9 cells today, with many seeds per cell.
17: 4 small sprouts today.
18: By the end of the day, there were 10 sprouts, with a sprout in every cell.
May 13: I set out my little seedlings, about 7 of them. They didn't seem to be doing very well in the cells, and I thought I would give them a chance in the garden.
24: Five still going ok in the garden
17: 4 plants doing fine, plus one apparently recovering from damage during hoeing.
June 30: Five plants flourishing.
July 6: First flower.
August 3: Flowering nicely. I stopped deadheading a week ago.
31: The plants appear finished.
September 30: One plant is still flowering, despite the frosts we have had. I hope some more come from self-seeding next year. They are in an area that will not be disturbed now.
November 21: One plant is still growing.

April 9: Planted 1 6-pak, moderately thickly.
15: First sprouts.
26: Thinned.
May 2: Over wintered plants are in leaf in the garden.
27: Planted out, still very small.

20: Many seedlings.
June 1: Seedlings still small. I will keep them in the 6-pak longer.

June 1: One has half-died suddenly, when it looked to be flourishing. Perhaps it got a touch of Round-Up?

14: Bought 12 plugs at the Park conservatory plant sale.
15: Planted them.
June 1: 4 of them alive. Deadheaded the first flower today.
15: All new plants are dead, old ones are flowering profusely.
